Taoist Astrology and Qi Gong for Health,
Vitality and Spiritual Growth
*Co-taught with David Twicken, Doctor of Oriental Medicine,
Senior Healing Tao Instructor and Author of Chinese Astrology Made Easy,
Spiritual Qi Gong, Four Pillars and Oriental Medicine,
Time: 9:30 AM - 5:30 PM
This workshop integrates Tao Spirituality, Alchemy, Qi Gong and Chinese Astrology to assist any health and spiritual practice. Based on Taoist cosmology and spirituality, the astrology presents a clear picture of the condition of the 5 Elements & 5 Shen (aspects of our emotional, mental and spiritual condition) and their corresponding psycho-emotional-spiritual qualities. This is integral to understanding our stresses and challenges and enables us to select specific Chi Kung practices to harmonize these aspects to obtain greater emotional and spiritual harmony.

Fusion of the 5 Elements Meditation & Tan Tien Chi Kung
Time: 9:30 AM - 5:30 PM
Fusion of the 5 Elements is a traditional Taoist energy meditation that enables one to “plug into” the universe. Using the alchemical symbol of the bagua (pakua), the practitioner calls forth and connects with the five energies and eight forces of nature for protection, to enhance one's personal energy and to increase one’s mind power. The pracitioner also learns to transform the negative emotions of worry, sadness, cruelty, anger, and fear into pure energy by identifying the source of negative emotions within the five major organs of the body. The pure energy of the five organs is crystallized into a radiant pearl or crystal ball which is then circulated in the body, attracting energy from external sources - Universal Energy, Cosmic Particle Energy, and Earth Energy. The pearl plays a central role in the development and nourishment of the soul or energy body.
Enhance your vitality, strengthen your organs and promote self-healing by increasing the Chi pressure in the organs and body cavity. Tan Tien Chi Kung develops the power of the Tan Tien (navel area) and the perineum through fun breathing exercises named after animals. Learn to activate the circulatory, lymphatic, nervous and endocrine system so that Chi and blood flows more easily through the body. Like an electric wire in the earth, Chi pressure (Internal Power) in the Tan Tien roots our body and mind and is important for our any chi kung or meditation practice.
PREREQUISITES: It is recommended that students know and have practiced the Microcosmic Orbit meditation and 6 Healing Sounds before taking this course. Please contact Sharon if you have any questions about whether you are qualified for this course.

Darkness Techniques for Enlightenment
Location at Subud, 230 W. 29th St. (right next to the META Center)
Time: 7PM - 10PM
All spiritual and meditative traditions have techniques related to darkness in the pursuit of enlightenment. In Europe, the dark room often appeared in underground form as a network of tunnels, in Egypt as the Pyramids, in Rome as the catacombs, and by the Essenes, near the Dead Sea in Israel, as caves. In the Taoist
tradition, the cave represents the perfect "Inner Alchemy Chamber" and was used for higher level practices of spiritual transformation.
In 2002, after 40 years of preparation, Mantak Chia created a cave of darkness at his retreat center near Chiang Mai, Thailand, enabling Tao practitioners to experience the spiritual and physical effects of spending extended time periods in complete darkness. Doing this activates the deepest centers within the brain (particularly the pineal, pituitary, and hypothalamus glands), establishing a connection with the Original Source, the Wu Chi. Learn what happens when consciousness is deprived of sensory stimulation and experience a few simple meditation techniques (diamond bone breathing and connecting the pineal gland to your sexual center) from the Taoist tradition of spiritual pioneers. Please bring a simple eye mask that can be easily purchased at your local drugstore.

Stem Cell Chi Kung
Time: 9:30 am – 5:30 pm
“Stem cells have been found in a wide variety of adult tissues including the brain, liver, pancreas, and bone marrow. Already, researchers have coaxed stem cells from adult bone marrow into becoming nerve cells that could treat conditions ranging from paralysis to Alzheimer’s disease. Stem cells extracted from the patient’s own bone marrow are less likely to be rejected than neural cells from foreign sources”.
Journal of Neuroscience Research (July 31, 2000)” More than 5000 years ago, Taoist Masters discovered that our bodies have marvelous regenerating, repairing & rebuilding powers. By gentle application of pressure on the body parts and vital organs, the old, sick and damaged cells completely break up and fall out. The body then sends its resources (its own Stem Cells!) to repair and regenerate the skin, organs, glands and all the body parts. Learn this amazing chi kung practice containing ancient wisdom that is now being confirmed by cutting edge science.
